Wine and the Web

After much planning and deliberation, we are very proud to launch our new website. I am often asked "How important is the internet to a winery like yours?" The answer is always a resounding "Crucial!" One of the most enjoyable things about wine is the story behind the wine. The internet enables us to bring our ongoing story to you. Granted, there is no substitute for telling stories while sharing a good bottle of wine, so we invite you to pour a glass of Pinot, log on and chat with us about wine.

As many of you know, Michael Browne and I cut our teeth in the restaurant business. I was a wine director and subsequently consulted for a few restaurants and their wine programs. That was a great time for me, as the best wines in the world were dropped at my doorstep for my review. Since then, I have realized that I took that accessibility for granted! But now, just as many of my wine-drinking friends do, I have used the internet to stay in touch with the wine world at large. I frequently (daily) visit websites and bulletin boards such as Mark Squire's Bulletin Board at erobertparker.com, vineocellar.com, westcoastwinenet, etc. These visits allow me to share my tasting notes, read tasting notes of others and share in wine experiences. The internet has made the wine world a very close-knit place.

It is in this spirit that we have created this new website. We hope you will find features such as our Restaurant Locator useful. If you are on our waiting list, we encourage you to visit us to get Kosta Browne news and to simply keep in touch. If you are on our member list and will be recieving wine, this site will be a fast, easy and secure way of procurring your allocation. More importantly, since we do not have a winery or tasting room that is open to the public, this site will allow us to continue to tell our story and hear back from you.

Michael will frequently post blogs with cellar updates and winemaking trends, while I will discuss Kosta Browne news, events, travel and whatever pops into my head. Please feel free to comment on our thoughts. We look forward to discussing wine and Kosta Browne with you!

By Terry on October 4, 2006

Congratulations guys on a great looking website.

I was wondering if you guys were planning on making another trip to Colorado for the Pinot Summit as you did last year? It was great meeting you Dan and trying out the wines.

If you do come back, make sure you save a day to ski! :)

Destin Charity Wine Auction

By Lamar Conerly on August 22, 2006

Dan,
As President of the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, I just wanted to say publically how much your presence and the wines from Kosta Browne meant to our fund-raising efforts at our past Auction for the local children in crisis. I know Mike Thompson has already expressed the sentiment, but I wanted to second that! The inaugural event was a huge success and with a full year to work with, this year will raise even more for our charities. We look forward to having you (and Micheal) with us April 20 and 21 on the beautiful Florida Gulf Coast.

Web Site

By Don Downing on August 22, 2006

This site is easy to navigate for info, updating, etc. I much prefer to do on-line ordering as that way I do not lose offerings.

As my wife says, you gotta love those KB wines....
